Adaptat dupa romanul omonim al scriitorului Thomas Cobb, filmul “Crazy heart” il are in centrul actiunii pe cantaretul de muzica country Bad Blake, care este distrus din punct de vedere emotional dupa ce a experimentat prea multe mariaje ratate, si-a petrecut prea mult timp in turnee si a consumat prea mult alcool. Cariera lui se afla in declin, iar Bad Blake observa cu tristete cum genul de muzica pe care il interpreteaza nu mai are priza la public, preferintele oamenilor indreptandu-se spre cantaretii tineri, cum ar fi carismaticul si talentatul Tommy Sweet. Desi se lupta sa iasa din umbra lui Tommy, care se bucura de un imens succes profesional, Bad Blake accepta sa ii devina mentor acestuia si isi relanseaza cariera si isi pune ordine in viata dupa ce o intalneste pe Jean Craddock. Jean Craddock este o jurnalista draguta care isi creste singura baietelul, apropiindu-se initial de varstnicul cantaret cu scopul de a-l convinge sa-i acorde o serie de interviuri si sfarsind prin a dezvolta sentimente de reala afectiune pentru Bad Blake.
